The Huawei Mate 10 Pro almost made it unseen till the launch event that will take place on October 16th but – as you may have already understood – it didn’t; the internet wins once again. So, let’s just jump straight to a new -fresh- live photo where we can admire the powerful device next to its smaller sibling – the Mate 10!
Confirming previous leaked renders, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro comes with a large display and really thin top and bottom bezels. The side bezels also look among the thinnest we’ve ever seen if we don’t put Samsung’s curved displays in the mix. The smartphone is expected to feature on-screen software buttons, which is what we’re accustomed to from Huawei.
The back finish is probably just plain plastic or metal with a coating.
The glossy part obviously isn’t glass, but one of these plastic films that come on new phones that have to be removed before use (notice the bubbles underneath the film).
What is more interesting is that a fingerprintreader can’t really be identified.
No big smartphone company would put plastic on the back anymore. It has been spotted in previous leaks to have a glossy finish, either glass, highly lacquered metal or ceramic(unlikely) – yes, there is indeed a film on it as well but there is no way of knowing it ‘obviously isn’t glass’ especially given said previous leaks.
The Pro also has a 2 tone back plate, glossy with metal around the camera setup.
The FP scanner on the standard 10 has also been spotted on the front of the phone, whereas the Pro has a rear mounted scanner.
I don’t know what’s on the back of these things these days.
I have the P10 Plus. Aluminium, plastic… main thing… no telling what’s underneath, but like the previous version, probably a plain finish. To be honest, I don’t give a dang. I had everything from Jiayus to Nubias and they all didn’t break down. Plastic wouldn’t bother me, if anything, it won’t shatter like everyone else’s iPhones still walking around with those full glass ones atleast that is. xD
Point was that it seemed like a protector was applied and that that was no indication of a glass back… which… you don’t see done that much anyways these days.
Btw, my ZTE Nubia Z9 had a glass back and I had to put badroom floor grip tape on it, because it would always slide from slightly slopey surfaces.
Well, I have no problem with admitting when I’m wrong.
And the new Huaweis do indeed sport a glass/glossy rear.
Just… the article made it sound as if those assumptions were based on the leaked photos posted above, which I would argue you can still not base anything on.
Nontheless. Y’all right. *claps*
btw, also solves the fingerprint part, which the Mate 10 has on the front and the Pro on the back… just in these shots we were only shown the front of the Pro and the back of the regular 10.
