Successor to the budget friendly Redmi 4A, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been launched with a price tag of 599 Yuan, approximately $90. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as the Redmi 5A retains manual features found on the Redmi 4A with a few enhancements.
Design
From the design point of view, the Redmi 5A resembles the Redmi 4A with the only difference being the placement of the speaker. The phone features a full metal body. The front features the traditional navigation buttons on the bottom bezel with the top bezel housing the front camera on the right side of the ear piece. On the top left corner of the back, lies the primary camera with LED flash.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A sports a 5-inch 720p display and features the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD card. The primary camera is a 13MP sensor with PDAF, while the front features a 5MP sensor. The phone is fueled by a 3000 mAh battery and comes with Android Nougat with MIUI 9 on top.
It has the usual connectivity options with a dual SIM port, one of which is micro and the other, a nano SIM slot. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes in three colour variants, Champagne Gold, Pink and Grey. It’ll retail for 599 Yuan and reservation for the sale is presently on. It’ll be available both online and offline starting 10AM tomorrow across multiple retail stores.
