Most smartphone manufacturers want to run Android’s most recent version, Android 8.0 Oreo. This version has been used by some manufacturers and others are in the queue to join up. Huawei already has the Oreo on its recently released Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro flagships, however, they wont be the last of Huawei’s smartphones to sport this Android version. In the coming month, the Mate 9 and P10 series will receive Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 updates, said Huawei during the Mate 10 launch event. The update will first arrive for Huawei Mate 9/Mate 9 Pro and its P10 and P10 Plus brethren will follow subsequently.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei is currently concentrating on making sure that the Mate 10 performs optimally in the market and the Chinese manufacturer has stated that this update will arrive the Mate 9 series 3 or 4 weeks after the Mate 10 hits the shelves. For the P10 and P10 Plus, the company didn’t give any specific time but it said the update will come “in the near future”. Doing the maths, the Mate 9 series will get Android Oreo sometime in November considering the fact that the Mate 10 is expected to hit the shelves in late October.
Well, in terms of user interface, EMUI 8.0 will not be very different from the previous version. Nevertheless, there are tons of background improvements and the company singled out the performance which has been improved by 12% in the new update.
