Having released Android Oreo in the end of August, we still aren’t used to it. Added by the few devices apart from Nexus, Pixels and Huawei Mate 10 running Oreo, chances are that most of Android users haven’t proof the newest Android version. Well it’s not the newer anymore, as Google just released their developer preview version of the upcoming Android Oreo 8.1.
With Android Oreo, Google added some cool new features to the OS. It includes the Picture-in-Picture mode, which expands multi-tasking capabilities, the Notifications Channels for granular control over your incoming notifications, the UI’s overhaul in Settings and Notification Panel among other things.
With Android 8.1, we expect the addition of DNS over TLS support, IPPS-only printers, Google Cast notification fixes and a whole new Power Menu. Other included features should pop up once the first reviews of the newest software come to light.

Currently, the eligible devices for Android 8.1 Developer Preview are:
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus 6P
- Pixel
- Pixel XL
- Pixel 2
- Pixel 2 XL
- Pixel C
If you have one of the eligible devices and want to test the newest software, its necessary to unlock your bootloader in order to flash the firmware. So backup is mandatory here.
