Philips X596 with 4000mAh battery announced in China

While Philips isn’t exactly a household name in the smartphone industry, it’s nevertheless not a new entrant to the industry. The company has a slew of basic and smartphones all to its credit and has today in collaboration with China JD.com introduced a new smartphone (Philips X596) that meets consumers camera demands at a pocket-friendly price.

Announced at JD’s headquarter in China, the Philips X596 is an entry-level device made entirely out of aviation aluminium alloy material with a 2.5D curved touchscreen on the front. With dimensions 156.4×77.4×8.35mm, weighs 177.8g, the Philips X596 features a top and bottom rear antenna band with a single rear camera with LED flash as well as a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.

What is most amazing about the Philips X596 and which by the way is one of its major selling points is its rear and front-facing cameras. The device comes fitted with a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, AF, 1080p video support and a 16-megapixel front-facing snapper. The phone also boasts of a massive 4,000mAh battery equipped with 9V/2A fast charging.

On the display front, the device packs a  5.5-inch IPS touchscreen with 1.920 pixels by 1,080 pixels, while it got a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 underhood. It is available with 4GB of RAM, while storage option is limited to 32GB and 64GB. The device runs on Android 7.1 out of the box.

The Philips X596 will be made available on November 5th, but you can currently pre-order the phone on JD.COM with a price tag of CNY 1,299/$171 and CNY 1,499/$227 for the 32GB and 64GB storage variants respectively.
