Following weeks of leaks and official teasers, BBK Electronics-owned OPPO has today at an event in China introduced its latest full-screen devices – the Oppo R11s and R11s plus. Both devices are fresh iterations of the R11 and R11 Plus released back in June.
They both come with few refinements both in designs and internal configurations. Aside from the needed switch from traditional 16:9 displays to the full-screen (18:9) display with little bezels, which have now prompted the relocation of the fingerprint scanners to the rear, the devices gets a slight bump and modifications both in the camera and battery aspects.
Oppo R11s
Encased in an all-metal unibody design with rounded corners and a single line U-type antenna band, the Oppo R11s features a large 6.01” 2160 x 1080 AMOLED display with 85.8% screen-to-body ratio and equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, supported by Adreno 512 GPU coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The most interesting aspect of the device is, of course, its camera setup, it comes with a dual rear camera setup – a 16MP primary sensor with dual-tone LED Flash and a secondary 20MP camera, f/1.7 aperture and 2.0μm pixel size, while it got on its display front a single 20-megapixel camera with Beautify 5.0 AI technology.
Gizchina News of the week
Oppo says the camera can utilize its A.I. Beauty Recognition technology for intelligent analysis of sex, age, skin color, skin texture and more and then collects 254 feature points for capturing the best selfie. Rounding off the spec, the Oppo R11s comes with a 3205mAh battery with VOOC fast charging technology with a promise to offer up to 2 hours of talk time with 5 minutes of charging. The device boots Android Nougat with ColorOS v3.2 out of the box while also supporting facial recognition functionality for authentication.
Oppo R11s Plus
The Oppo R11s plus could be considered as a souped-up version of the Oppo R11s. It got a slightly larger display at 6.43-inch, same Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC but more RAM at 6GB. A larger battery capacity is also in place to make up for the bump in the screen size. Keeping the device ticking is a 4,000mAh battery. All other specs remain virtually unchanged.
