Well that’s something we didn’t expect from Xiaomi – I have to say this. A set of spy shots of a rumored Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S model (the next version of the Mix 2 possibly?) appeared earlier on Weibo and as you can see for yourselves, it seems that there is no more room for original ideas…
If we are to believe what we see, then the next Mi Mix 2S will pack a bezel less display with an iPhone X-style cutout on top. Obviously this implies that the selfie camera will now return to its normal position: in front and above the display, something that will also benefit the design of the device as the bottom bezel will now be even smaller – the photos don’t show this obviously but this is an assumption we can safely do at this time.

The spy photos also show that the “horns” around the cutout are wider in this model, leaving more room for icons in the status bar compared to the iPhone. This isn’t however something that Developers like to deal with, as this specific cutout (like the one the Essential Phone has) is causing them design headaches when trying to implement it on their apps.
As always we have not confirmed the authenticity of these images, so take them with a pinch of salt, until we have something concrete to discuss.
