Well the unveiling of the OnePlus 5T flagship yesterday was successful – even though we knew almost everything about it days before through leaks. It comes with a revamped front face, an impressive 18:9 full display, a much improved dual camera on its back, the same powerful processor and Android 7.1.1 Nougat… wait, what?
Yepp, the most awaited flagship killer from OnePlus – a device that has been announced at the end of 2017 comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat – not even 7.1.2- and obviously not Android 8.0 Oreo. The news might have surprised some, as many expected that the flagship would be running an OxygenOS version based on Android Oreo.
Gizchina News of the week
After all the Chinese phone maker stated that the 5T and its predecessor, the OnePlus 5, are nearly identical in terms of software. So most of you might ask:
when can we expect the two OP5/OP5T models to receive some “Oreo” love?
According to the Chinese company, the first official build will go live in “early 2018”. Still, those of you ready to install the newest version of Android earlier, you should be able to test it through an open beta. The program will kick off in late November for the OnePlus 5, while the OnePlus 5T will have to wait until late December.
But if you’re among the majority of “simple” users, then you will have to wait until the first months of 2018 to see you brand new flagship running on Google’s latest OS. Sorry for this…
