With Gionee readying itself for a massive 8 product launch, a new smartphone from the manufacturer has just passed TENAA. The device which is under focus here is the Gionee GN5006.
Thanks to the Chinese certification authority, these days we can have a sneak peek at upcoming smartphone designs. And here is how the Gionee GN5006 looks. As is visible from the pics, it sports a thin-bezel design, a texturized back and a single rear camera. It is also clear from the image that the speaker grill is also at the rear. Remarkably, it doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner. This gives us the impression that it might be an entry-level handset.

The TENAA listing also gives away some specs on the phone. As per that info, it sports a 4,000 mAh battery, and 8 MP front and rear shooters. In terms of dimension, the phone is reported to be measuring 144.7 x 69.8 x 8.5mm in size while weight is 170g.
The GN5006 sports a 5.5-inch HD+ (1440 x 720p) display and a 1.4 GHz processor which probably confirms that this is indeed a low-end handset. It is likely to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with Gionee’s Amigo UI skin. There might be two variant of the device in question. A 2 GB + 16 GB variant and a 3 GB + 32 GB variant.
Industry insiders say the GN5006 is a member of the Gionee Steel 3 family, which also consists of GN5007 and GN5006L. Both these handsets have passed TENAA and the latter bears close resemblance to the Gionee GN5006 on the spec sheet.
