The upcoming Elephone S9 is set to be one of the most interesting devices coming from a smaller Chinese phone maker next year (?). As such, it definitely won’t lack the now standard dual camera setup on the back. The company did indeed just release some details about that; let’s learn more about it!
Well, as you can see in the image above, the Elephone S9 will be able to snap those nice bokeh shots with a shallow depth of field. In the bottom left corner you can also see it says “Powered by ArcSoft”, which is an image algorithm company that cooperates with top tier tech giants such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei to take advantage of the two cameras.
Gizchina News of the week
As far as actual hardware goes, today we learn that the Elephone S9 will be equipped with two 13MP high-end Samsung image sensors, with an RGB+Mono combo. So cameras will be able to capture more color details and provide clearer and high-quality images when paired up.
Elephone also stated that they’re working really hard to improve photos quality and surprise everybody. Well, let’s hope we can confirm that once we get our hands on the phone!
You’ll find the latest about Elephone phones on their website or Facebook page.
RGB+Mono is the most pointless dual camera setup avaible. It does absolutely nothing to improve image quality over single camera setup, just as Essential Phone proves. Disappointing. They should have gone with 2x optical zoom lens which would be far more usefull and also cheaper to implement.
LG is the only company that implemented wide angle lens in their phones as a second sensor, so its not that simple aka not everyone has access to that technology, but yeah, I preffer it too, but im just being realistic with that telephoto lens.
I think rgb+mono have some usueful moments, shooting in the night much better, lower noise. So if software part will be fine optomized, with this camera module must be fine images
