It has been 366 days since HMD Global took it upon itself to revive the Nokia phone brand, and true to it, the firm has succeeded in bringing back the Nokia name to the smartphone world once again.
With six different smartphones including the entry-level Nokia 2 to its credit, there have been several reports flying around about HMD is planning to unveil a true flagship smartphone in the near future. While there is still no official confirmation of that, new report tips that these reports are in line, and that the Nokia 9 will indeed be a true flagship device that could see the light of the day as early as January 2018.
The report tips that HMD Global from early next year could start to adopt Samsung naming convention, where the existing device gets a variant in the following year. The report hints that we could get to see a 2018 variant of the Nokia 8 that will go by the name Nokia 8 (2018).

We are not sure what the improvements the Nokia 8 (2018) could bring, but there is no doubt it could come with a completely overhauled design so it can at least compete with other devices from Samsung, LG, HTC and even Xiaomi. The device no doubt could also come with the trendy 18:9 Display.

The Nokia 9 has been a regular visitor to the rumor mill, so it is basically new to us here. However, the device is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch QHD display, an 18:9 aspect ratio with a Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood. HMD Global is also aiming to eliminate the 3.5mm headphone jack, while it will be IP67 certified for water and dust protection.
