Zopo, once the darling of the Chinese smartphone market, is back just in time for Christmas with the recently launched Zopo P5000 and it could be their best phone to date!
We’ve had an early Christmas present today all the way from Shenzhen based Zopo! Yup, Zopo is still about and yes they do have a new range of smartphones, possibly the best smartphones ever to ship with the Zopo name stamp on the back!
Zopo has sent me the Zopo P5000, their latest flagship phone which comes with all the hardware features that we come to expect from top of the range phones of today, plus a few nice features that actually push the P5000 in front of certain other phones on the market.
As usual, I’m starting out with a quick unboxing of the Zopo P5000 and then will follow up with a full review in the coming weeks.
Zopo P5000 Unboxing
The P5000 is easily the best looking Zopo phone I’ve had my hands on, and in addition to that it also has the best materials, best build quality and actually features top-end hardware.
In the past, Zopo has struggled to keep up with smartphone trends, but the Zopo P5000 is bang right up to date with a 5.99-inch HD+ 18:9 Full-Screen display! This is pretty big news for Zopo, but the hardware highlights don’t end there!
Above that full display screen, you’ll find a 16 megapixel Samsung SP3 f2.0 camera with soft LED flash. The rear has dual lens camera is made up of a 13 megapixel and 5 megapixel Sony IMX258 f2.0 sensor and beneath the attractive metal body is a huge 5000mAh battery!
Gizchina News of the week
With a huge battery, the P5000 is slightly thicker than similar metal bodied phones, but less time on charge is more important to most users than the physical size of the phones.
Sticking with modern trends, the P5000 uses a Type C USB 2.0 for charging and data transfer, which might not be as desirable as a faster connection but at least it’s more future-proof than a standard USB which we’re still seeing on some phones.
As the Zopo P5000 has a full-display screen and a 85% screen coverage up front, the fingerprint scanner has had to be moved to the rear of the phone just below the dual camera lens. The fingerprint scanner lens is a little smaller than some brands, but so far it has proven to be fast and accurate.
We’re also impressed to see that Zopo has shipped the P5000 with a largely stock installation of Android 7.0 and that the phone comes with Google Services and the Google Store all installed and working as they should out of the box.
The stock Android installation runs smoothly thanks to 4GB Samsung DDR3 RAM and Mediatek Helio P10 1.5Ghz octacore chipset, not the most modern processor but it’s powerful enough for most uses and supports most common LTE networks too.
Other details include 64GB Samsung internal memory, space for a micro SD card and dual nano SIM slots.
For those of you who can’t wait for the full review and need to get their hands on the Zopo P5000 now, Zopo is offering the phone direct on their official web store for just $269.00.
Man everything was impressive until I reach the processor… Glad to see them back, this phone could almost be perfect in comparison with the competition, but the old Chipset pushes it back, well let’s see how Zopo will perform in the future, so far other things in the phone looks really good.
lol, everyone was fine until they read the SoC
no wonder it was listed in the end !
