ZTE, on their Germany forum, revealed that the Axon 7 will be receiving the update to Android Oreo 8.0 starting April 2018. Plus points to ZTE for pushing the Android Oreo update to a device that was launched more than a year ago.
April 2018 is not coming anytime soon, but at least now there is surety for the Axon 7 users that their phones won’t be left behind. The company also talked about the new UI, called the ‘Stock+UI’ that will be a part of the April update. From what we can infer, the UI will be much closer to stock than the earlier version, with lesser bloatware, in turn keeping the performance up to the mark. There is no reason that ZTE stated behind this move, but personally speaking, I feel that it is a good strategy to slim down on bloatware and keeping the UI close to stock in updates as the hardware gets older, since every OS update brings about changes that are taxing on older devices, whether flagship or not, thus leading to a decrease in performance.
