Chinese action camera maker, SJCAM, is planning to launch a flagship camera with dual screens and native 4K video support.
Following on from the brands SJ6 and SJ7 action cameras, SJCAM is now planning to release a flagship camera with 4K video support at 60 FPS along with 1080p video at 120 FPS thanks to the inclusion of an Ambarella H22S85 SOC.
The name of the camera is the SJ8 Pro and will sit at the top of SJCAM’s camera range along with a few other variants of the new SJ8 chassis all boasting new features.
In leaked specifications for the camera we also learn that the SJ8 Pro will come with a SONY IMX377 sensor good for 12 megapixel still photos and will offer 8 x zoom feature.
Gizchina News of the week
A large 1200mAh battery should prove to offer plenty of recording time, and will even have enough juice to play back recorded events on the rear touch screen 2.33” IPS display. A secondary 0.96” front screen will also be part of the package.
Voice control is the icing on the SJ8 Pro’s specifications and features and will ensure ease of use in all manner of situations.
What we’re really interested in knowing though is has SJCAM managed to eek out all the bugs that plagued users who had the previous generation SJ6 and SJ7 action cameras? Hopefully, we’ll be able to get our hands on the new camera at launch to see for ourselves.
