India’s Private Telecom Service Providers Have Over 975 Million Subscribers – COAI


Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) reports that Mobile subscriber base climbed to 97.54 crores in November and there was a net addition of 83.3 lakh new customers. As at October, TRAI estimated that Reliance Jio has about 14.59 crore customers while MTNL has 36 lakh.

On Thursday, COAI said

“As per the data, India’s private telecom service providers have a total of 975.40 million subscribers. The data also includes the figures of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) by the end of October 2017,”

From the data shared by COAI, the top position is occupied by Bharti Airtel which have about 28.95 crores subscribers with a market share of 29.68%. Vodafone occupied second place with 21.1 crore subscribers while Idea Cellular stood at 19.4 crore subscribers. In terms of subscribers growth, Airtel was first again with a net addition of 43.4 lakh customers while Idea and Vodafone followed with a net addition of 32 lakh customers and 27 lakh net customers respectively. The reports also showed that the likes of Aircel and Telenor lost close to 0,000 and 12.5 lakh customers respectively.
