Just one day after Samsung rolled out the January security updates for the Galaxy J1 Mini prime, the company has now started rolling out a new update to another device that sits somewhere at the middle of the price ladder in Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone lineup.
Specifically, Samsung is now rolling out the January security update to the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) units in the Netherlands. Compare to the December Security update for the device, the January update with firmware version A520FXXU4BRA8 weighs in at 22MB. The update brings in the January security patches but also include a total of 91 fixes for the Google Android OS, while Samsung also threw in a couple of 13 fixes for Samsung Experience OS.

As it is with most OTA upgrades, the new update may take a while before it arrives your device, but you can always avoid the delay by manually checking for the update via your phone’s Settings menu.
Please do note that the update currently rolling out ONLY to users of the non-carrier branded models of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), but we do hope the update will begin to roll out to other regions soon.
