A few months ago, Xiaomi released the Mi A1 under Android One program. This smartphone was scheduled to receive the Android Oreo update last year. True to its words, Xiaomi initiated the Beta testing of Android Oreo for Mi A1 and by December 31st, it commenced the official rollout of this update. However, there were a lot of irregularities regarding the update and users pointed out the following after installing the update
- Inert camera and dialer app
- Active Bluetooth drains battery massively
- Swipe on fingerprint sensor gesture inactive
- Dormant Recent app button
- Sluggish ambient light sensor
Gizchina News of the week
The company acknowledged some of the issues raised and even offered a solution to the significant hanging of dialer app. It asked users to either uninstall MyJio app or disable ‘Telephone’ permission for the mentioned app. Concerning the effect of MyJio app on the Mi A1 dialer after updating to Android Oreo, a Mi Community admin said
We just dropped an Android Oreo update for Mi A1 a few days back. We stumbled upon an issue where users are not able to call and dialer app is getting hanged or there’s an unusual delay in making the call. Upon researching we found that MyJio application is causing ANR when a call is being made or received and hence the issue. The issue is seen when MyJio app is being present with all app permissions granted.
For now, Xiaomi has suspended the further release of this update while it tries to fix the issues. However, it hopes to re-release this update in a few weeks. Meanwhile, all the issues raised have been addressed in the ongoing Android Oreo-based Beta program for Mi A1.
