The just concluded CES conference/exhibition was an opportunity for many companies to release their products as well as showcase what they have in store. One of the major issues that were discussed in this conference is 5G technology which cuts across several quarters in the tech world and will definitely be an improvement over what we currently have.
ZTE CEO, Lixin Cheng, stated that the company is working on a smartphone, tablet and a wireless-internet hub for homes that uses 5G technology. According to him, these products should be available at the end of this year or early next year. While he was quite certain of the 5G smartphone, the 5G tablet and wireless-internet hub for homes was under probability. The likes of AT&T and Qualcomm are already working on the development of 5G network thus ZTE will probably have to work with these companies to achieve its goals.
Gizchina News of the week
It will not be the first time that ZTE will be doing business with carriers. AT&T took charge of ZTE’s Axon M. While Samsung is collaborating with Verizon to test 5G technology, Apple has gotten the approval to start experimenting 5G networking. Though there is no official announcement, other manufacturers are silently working on this technology.
