Micromax has confirmed that they will be unveiling the Bharat Go, a smartphone that will run the Go Edition of Android Oreo by the end of this month. Micromax said,
Taking its mission of connecting the unconnected ahead, and providing the best in class mobility devices, Micromax will introduce BHARAT GO to deliver optimized Android experience as an entry level smartphone to millions of Indian consumers.
Android Go is the stripped down and memory optimized version of the original Android version. This enables phones with lesser memory, between 512MB to 1GB RAM to run Android smoothly. Google had announced the Go project last year in May, with Bharat Go becoming the first phone to embrace the program. Not only the OS, Google has also developed stripped down versions of their apps like Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go, Google Assistant Go, Files Go.

The Bharat Go is expected to be priced under Rs.2000, approximately $30 which will make it one of the cheapest Android phones available on the market. Micromax has not revealed any specifications for the phone yet. Apart from Micromax, even HMD Global is gearing up to launch the Nokia 1 which will also be part of the Android Go project.
