Reports have been swirling for days about Xiaomi’s plan to unveil the flagship Mi 7 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later in February 2018. Now, reports reaching us claims Xiaomi might have joined the group of OEMs who have decided to shelve the launch of their flagship smartphones for the time been.
Gizchina News of the week
A report by Androidheadlines quoting one of Xiaomi’s high-level employee says that the company won’t make any major announcement at the upcoming mobile congress and that by inference means the flagship Mi 7 won’t feature in Xiaomi’s MWC products announcement. With the Mi 7 out of view, the likes of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s could possibly be some of the products that we might get to see at the MWC.
The reasons for this is certainly not known to us, but might not be different from HTC, LG and Huawei’s decision all of which may have deliberately scheduled different dates for announcement to avoid HMD Global as well as Samsung both of which would be unveiling their flagship devices on February 25 just before the official hours of the MWC.
If the report proves accurate, it would mean that Sony, Motorolla, ZTE and might be the few OEMs whose flagship we would get to see at the MWC event.
