With the recent report of the Xiaomi Mi 7 not coming to the MWC, we are left with no choice other than turning our gaze towards the Mi Max 3 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s.
Fortunately, info is starting to trickle out regarding Xiaomi’s plans for the Mi Mix 2s. The latest bit of info available to us says the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will be unveiled right before the MWC which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona later in February. However, no exact date has been specified for the launch.
Gizchina News of the week
The information emanated from a Weibo tipster who claims that Xiaomi is presently working on the Mix 2S and that it may arrive before MWC 2018. The tipster, however, failed to divulge further details of the smartphone and its exact launch date, he instead asked readers to guess which Xiaomi smartphone would be the first one to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Since we already know that the Galaxy S9 rumored to be unveiled on Feb 25 would be the first phone to ship with the chipset, and with the confirmation that the Mi 7 would be launched after the MWC, it is very much unlikely that the Mi Mix 2s would be the first Xiaomi phone to come with the latest chipset.
While there is still no official confirmation of the actual existence of the Mi Mix 2S, rumors making the round suggest the device would be an upgraded version of the Mi Mix 2. It’s said to be similar to the iPhone X with an almost bezel-free full-screen design, a top notch where the front camera resides, while a single camera lens and a circular fingerprint scanner sit at the rear.
