Now that we already know all there is to know about the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9 plus, thanks to multiple leaks and renders, it’s a not unusual to begin to see repetitive leaks and rumors in the days leading to the unveiling date which is coincidentally the same date HMD Global has set aside for its media event.
One key area that has actually not been covered is probably the expected retail price of the upcoming devices, however, the latest bit of information from South Korea seems to have shed light on that. A source from South Korea has revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S9 might cost as much as KRW950,000, while the Plus-sized variant will go for as much as KRW990,000 in South Korea amounting to up to KRW15,000 – KRW45,000 increase over the Galaxy S8 and S8 plus.
The same source further revealed that intending buyers won’t have to wait much before they can get hold of the device as the waiting period will be shortened compared the Galaxy S8 duo which took about three weeks before it started shipping. To be precise, the source has it that the Galaxy S9 duo will be open for pre-orders in South Korea from March 2 through March 8, while shipping and actual availability in the market stores will follow closely.

We are however not sure when and at what price the Galaxy S9 duo will be available on a Global basis, but we presume shorter waiting period so both devices can be an edge above competing devices from the likes of Huawei, HTC, Xiaomi and LG who have reportedly decided to reveal their flagship devices later after the MWC.
In terms of specs and features, a recent report from XDA developers has it that the Galaxy S9 and S9 plus will come loaded with a new Intelligent Scan feature – a combination of the facial recognition and iris scanning. This according to the report will enable users to unlock the smartphone in the low or very bright light.
