Asus has started sending out media invites for its MWC 2018 event in Barcelona later in February. The invites first obtained by Fonearena indicates the Taiwanese tech giant will be holding its event on February 27th at about 7:30pm CET (12:00 AM IST February 28th) and will be streamed online at asus.com. The invites didn’t specifically state what products we are to expect from the PC giant but features a few things we could hold on to.
As we can see from the image above, the invite prominently features the #BACKTO5 with the number 5 and the same “We Love Photo” tag used for the ZenFone 4 series. Below the #BACKTO5, the invite also has the Qualcomm Snapdragon logo. We can deduce from the invite that Asus will be unveiling the Asus Zenfone 5 series with a major focus on photography, while the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC will be the preferred SoC of choice.
Gizchina News of the week
While it appears a little early to announce the Zenfone 5 series knowing that the Zenfone 4 series was announced about 4 months back, the company had earlier confirmed back in 2017 that the Zenfone 5 will arrive very much earlier than the Zenfone 4, so the devices arriving in February/March could very much be in line with the company’s plans.
The rumor mill has had little or nothing to reveal about the Zenfone 5 lineup save for the ZenFone 5 Lite and 5 Max both of which have been certified by various certification bodies. The ZenFone 5 Lite is expected to be the most affordable of the Zenfone 5 series and could come with a screen size as large as 6-inch with 18:9 aspect ratio, while the ZenFone 5 Max is expected to highlight a massive battery with a large display. The entire Zenfone 5 lineup could be powered by the Qualcomm SoC with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.
We will bring you all the details as they unfold, so stay tuned.
I hope to see a new Ultra version with 6.8″
Should be renamed the “Asus Bezel”.
