The Essential PH-1 is yet to receive a stable Android Oreo 8.0 even after being on the beta program for weeks now. The company took to twitter and announced that the update will be released soon, although it would be the Oreo 8.1 update and not the 8.0 update.

Apparently, Essential received quite a lot of feedback from the beta testers regarding several stability issues in the beta build. This prompted them to take the decision of skipping the 8.0 update altogether and focus their energy on the 8.1 release. They explained that this would lead to delay in the pushing of the final update by a few weeks. Essential assured users that they will be releasing Oreo 8.1 Beta soon.
Gizchina News of the week
From the users’ point of view, the delay will seem disappointing. But it makes more sense to have a stable build pushed to the Essential PH-1 instead of one that’s riddled with bugs. Essential has assured through their post that although it will be delayed, the final update will hit the phones for sure. Essential has not specified a date for the launch, but it is expected to come in a few weeks.
