Essential Phone Camera App Receives An Auto-HDR Update

Andy Rubin first creation, Essential Phone, had a rough start in the smartphone market probably because of the huge expectations that users envisaged from the co-founder of Android. Nevertheless, Essential Phone settled in quickly and for some time now, it has not been in the news for the wrong reasons – at least its better than the never-ending reports from the Pixel smartphones. Just recently, the company released the February security patch to the Essential Phone and now, there are reports that its camera app is getting a major boost. Essential took to its official Twitter handle to announce this update. It said

“We just released an update to Essential Camera App that adds Auto-HDR, a new HDR algorithm that improves camera performance and scene rendering, dynamic HDR and Flash indicators, and various stability fixes.”

As a reminder, the Essential Phone is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is equipped with a Gorilla Glass 5 protected 5.71-inch LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen having an 84.9% screen-to-body ratio with a 1312 x 2560 pixel resolution. In the camera department, we have a 13MP camera on the rear coupled with an 8MP shooter for selfies. It runs a pre-installed Android Nougat OS and its lights are kept on by a non-removable Li-Ion 3040 mAh battery. At launch, this phone sold for $699 but after some issues, it took a nosedive in price to about $499 for both Black and White versions and the phone comes unlocked which means that it is ready to work with any carrier of buyer’s choice.
