Asus Zenfone 5 Lite With FHD & “Heavy” Camera Specs Leaked (Front 20MP + 20MP)

A couple of days back, Asus sent out invites for its MWC 2018 event in Barcelona. The invite gave a clue to what Asus upcoming smartphones will emphasize. It prominently featured the #BACKTO5 with the number 5 as well a the caption “We Love Photo” tag used for the  ZenFone 4 series. In addition, there was a Qualcomm Snapdragon logo and all these suggested that Asus Zenfone 5 series will come with a Snapdragon chip and the emphasis will be on the camera. Now, popular leakster @evleaks has unveiled some heavy duty camera spec for the Asus Zenfone 5 Lite

In his recent tweet, he said

“Asus Zenfone 5 Lite – quad cam (2 x 20MP selfie + 2 x 16MP rear) FHD+”

This implies that Asus Zenfone 5 Lite will come with four cameras which include a 20MP + 20MP selfie camera coupled with a 16MP + 16MP rear shooter. This is some heavy camera artillery for a “Lite” model. From this, it appears that the smartphone industry is gradually giving more attention to the front camera. Some sectors believe that @evleaks recent tweet means 2MP + 20MP in the front and 2MP + 16MP at the rear and that @evleaks made a mistake with the plus sign. This cannot be the case because there is nothing special about that configuration (2MP + 20MP/2MP + 16MP). Besides if @evleaks was making a mistake with the “+” and “x” sign, he would have said “2MP x 20MP” instead of “2 x 20MP”. In addition, the tweet reveals that this smartphone will come with a FHD display, although, this has been speculated before now.

As of now, not much information is available for the Zenfone 5 lineup save for the ZenFone 5 Lite and 5 Max both of which have been certified by various certification bodies. The ZenFone 5 Lite is expected to be the most affordable of the Zenfone 5 series and could come with a screen size as large as 6-inch with 18:9 aspect ratio, while the ZenFone 5 Max is expected to highlight a massive battery with a large display. The entire Zenfone 5 lineup could be powered by Qualcomm’s SoC with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.
