Andy Rubin’s dream project, the Essential Phone launched many months back exclusive to the US. But by now, it is well known that the handset did not fare well in terms of sales. The phone’s release was delayed from its actual date and that set it on a collision course with the iPhone X launch.
Now, a new rumour claims that the Essential Phone might be heading to India. According to the source, the leftover inventory has to be cleared and that might pave the way for its launch in India. Interestingly, the initiative to bring the phone to India will be from Amazon and not Essential. It is claimed that the phone will be brought to India under a rock-bottom price tag of Rs 24,999 or $388 approx.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, we can’t say anything about the authenticity of this rumour as no known source has been mentioned. Neither has anything been heard regarding the Essential phone coming to any other regions, let alone India. However, we reserve our judgements for now. If this is was Amazon has been planning, it might have to hurry as the Essential Phone is already getting old within a week’s time.
The Essential Phone comes loaded with a Snapdragon 835 chip, a 5.71-inch IPS display with a weird resolution. That’s because it comes with a notch, one of the first Android phones to do so. The handset also boasts a solid Titanium and Ceramic construction. Moreover, it comes with IP54 water and dust resistance and a host of latest connectivity options. In the US, the Essential Phone (Halo Gray) costs around $499.
