Xiaomi finally unveiled the highly-anticipated Redmi Note 5 series on the last week. While the Redmi Note 5 was just a rebranded version of Redmi 5 Plus launched in China back in December 2017, The Redmi Note 5 Pro was something more, definitely the handset that many Redmi Note fans have been waiting for.
Previous rumors were pointing that the Redmi Note 5 most powerful variant could arrive with Snapdragon 660, but since Xiaomi released the Mi Note 3 with that processor, these rumors turned into ashes. Instead, the company released the Redmi Note 5 Pro packing a processor that has the same blood of 660, the Snapdragon 636.
The chipset features four custom Kyro Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 1,8GHz and another set of four Kyro Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1,6GHz. Furthermore, the chipset brings the powerful Adreno 509 GPU and the fast X12 LTE Modem. The 636 brings the same level of efficiency found in the Snapdragon 625, thanks to it 14nm node.
The guys at Android Central picked the first benchmarks of the powerful chipset and the results are impressive:
Gizchina News of the week
The Redmi Note 5 Pro reachs whooping 112,649 points in AnTuTu, defining this device as the more powerful Redmi Note device to the date. The post once was ocuped by the Redmi Note 3 Pro with its Snapdragon 650, however that chip was kinda power consuming due to its 28nm build nature. Worth noting that the Snapdragon 636 is an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 660. That explains why the Redmi Note 5 Pro follows so closely the Mi Note 3 during the tests.
Lastly, but not least the handset was running MIUI 9.2.2.0 Beta during the tests, once a more stable release arrives for the device the results should be further improved. The Redmi Note 5 Pro sales are scheduled to start on February 22 through India’s Flipkart. The device offers an awesome value for money with its price starting at $215 (13,999 INR) for the 4GB+64GB variant. Users that wish to have a near flagship experience can grab the high-end variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB Storage for just additional $40, is priced at $260 (16,999 INR).
