Gizchina News of the week
Today was the first flash sale of the device and the FAce Unlock update has already arrived. The new information was declared by Clinton Jeff, Xiaomi’s Product PR representative. The Xiaomi rep. took to Twitter to announce the welcome news. He also added that the update arrives with MIUI v9.2.4 and comes with camera optimizations as well.
There have been minor issues with the camera not being up to the mark in some tests conducted on review units. Hopefully, this update takes care of those things. But, what we’re excited to see is the Face Unlock accuracy and security. The OnePlus 5T comes with a lightning fast Face Unlock but it sacrifices some security to achieve that speed. We’re yet to see how this new feature on the Redmi Note 5 Pro fares in actual use. We’re not sure but this is probably the first Xiaomi device to get Face Unlock.
We have learnt that Xiaomi has no plans to release this feature on other phones due to security reasons. However, this might change in the future.
