Sony unveiled two new high-end smartphones – the Xperia XZ2, and the Xperia XZ2 Compact – at the MWC 2018 exhibition a couple of days ago.The Japanese technology firm has finally ditched the chunky bezels with the XZ2 now featuring subtle curves and a stylish 3D glass finish, and we can say we’re definitely a fan of the new design.
The problem is both devices were announced with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Apparently, the US, UK, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Canada listings for the bigger Xperia XZ2 all quote 6GB of RAM. That’s a whole 2GB more than what’s on the standard international version.
Gizchina News of the week
While it’s nice to see that certain variants of the device have 6GB of RAM, this basically screws over EU Sony fans. We’re left wondering whether this is just a misunderstanding from Sony, or if it’s a conscious decision, since there’s no way this will win them any fans. We hope Sony clears up all of this soon, or at least bring the 6GB RAM version as an option in other countries.
