Sony’s newest bezel-less devices debuted at MWC 2018, but the best from the Japanese phone maker is yet to come. If you weren’t all that impressed with the Xperia XZ2 & XZ2 Compact, wait a bit more. A new report from China says that there is a new flagship with a 4K display.
Not only will the handset have a 4K display, it will also sport thin bezels based on Sony’s new “Ambient Flow” design. Now, there isn’t much to speak about the new design language. But it will be a departure from the Omnibalance design of Xperia devices. Also, the display is said to rock an eye-popping 4,320 × 2,180 pixel screen resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Further, the IPS displays would also support HDR.

The use of such high-res displays would be ideal for VR where Sony has yet to prove itself as a solid player. However, as things stand, Sony could replicate its success with Playstation VR in the mobile segment with the new 4K displays.
The report doesn’t name the handset. However, it says the phone will come with the Snapdragon 845 chip along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It should be noted that the Xperia XZ Premium also boasted a 4K display. We suggest this report be taken with a mix of optimism and suspicion until more solid info appears.
Moreover, the Xperia XZ2 brothers featured the Snapdragon 845 chip as well. Sony is believed to be working on this device for a reveal in the second half of 2018.
