The Redmi Note 5 Pro is the hottest new toy in town and it is about to get some sweet software enhancements. The MIUI 9 running mid-range phone is now getting gestures as part of a Global Beta ROM update. Now, Xiaom introduced gestures some time ago with the Redmi 5 Plus as we reported earlier. Even the Mi Mix 2 has now received the feature. But the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the latest thin bezel device to get it.

However, there’s a catch. The Global MIUI 9.5 Beta build isn’t made to be a daily driver. So, if you’ve had experience with buggy beta software, that would be part of the deal. As for the gestures, they are pretty much a rip-off of the iPhone X.
Basic Gestures
- Swipe from the middle bottom to go Home from anywhere
- Swipe and hold from the middle to open multi-tasking tray
- To go back swipe from the left edge
Xiaomi is the second major manufacturer to introduce gestures after OnePlus. And apparently, all new full-screen devices from the company will soon get the feature. Also, the stable build of Redmi Note 5 Pro should soon also get the new gestures in the coming weeks.
For more details on how to flash the build on your Redmi Note 5 Pro, the link to MIUI Forum is here. We advise new users to not try this and wait for the stable build to arrive.
