Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro are three smartphones from the Redmi series that hit the rumor mill simultaneously. While the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro were released in India in February, the Redmi 5 arrived India today. This smartphone was released in the Chinese maket in December 2017 but the Indian version comes with an enhanced design and display which has earned it the name “Compact Powerhouse”. From next week, this device will be available on Amazon India for as low as Rs. 7,999 ($124).

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Other options are 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The internal storage of this smartphone can be expanded using a micro SDcard. It is equipped with a 5.7-inch HD+ screen with a display resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Redmi 5 runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. In the camera department, it sports a 12MP rear snapper coupled with a 5MP shooter which supports soft-light flash and Beautify 3.0 for enhanced selfie shots. The lights of this smartphone are kept on by a 3,300mAh battery.
As for its pricing, the lowest model (2GB/16GB) sells for Rs. 7,999 ($124) while the 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants goes for Rs. 8,999 ($139) and Rs. 10,999 ($170) respectively. From March 20, Amazone India will have this smartphone which can also be gotten through Mi.com, Mi Store app, Mi Home stores and all the other partnered offline stores.
