Xiaomi expands into the business of backpacks
Xiaomi looms over India as an ever present force of dominance. The company’s plethora of mid-range smartphones all but guarantee their iron grip over of the country. So, what exactly does the monstrous presence have up next on its list of things to do? Well, it’s fashion, apparently. Xiaomi has a bunch of new and fashionable backpacks, probably for all those Mi Notebooks out there.
The Mi Casual Backpack
First off, we’ve got the Mi Casual Backpack with a checkered pattern design that comes in black, gray and blue. The material for the backpack is lovely 600D polyester, which means it’s waterproof. There are two main compartments and a side pocket for bottles or umbrellas. There’s enough space for a 15.6-inch laptop as well as some books and a few other random bits and bobs. It’s also impressively affordable at just INR 899, which comes up to about $13.
The Mi City Backpack
Gizchina News of the week
Next up, we’ve got the slightly pricier Mi City Backpack. Next to the Casual Backpack, the Mi City Backpack is much more minimalist in terms of design. It comes in dark gray and black and has four compartments, one of which can hold a 14-inch laptop. The yarn fabric material is waterproof and lined with soft EPE foam on the straps and a magnesium frame to give the backpack shape and support. It’s also pricier than the Casual Backpack, though it’s still not that bad at INR 1599 or $24.
The Mi Travel Backpack
Up last on the last, we have the Mi Travel Backpack, because you can’t travel with a normal bag. This one comes in blue and gray and has two compartments, one that expands to hold clothes and items and another for laptops of up to 14-inches. This baby is also waterproof like its cheaper brethren, but it also has a magnetic zipper and a hidden strap to attach it to your trolley suitcase. It’s the most expensive model at INR 1999, but even that’s not too bad at just $30.
So there you go, three brand new and shiny backpacks courtesy of Xiaomi themselves. They’re surprisingly nice bags, and I honestly wouldn’t mind picking one up for myself. What about you guys though, would you buy a Xiaomi backpack, or are happy with the ones you have? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
