Essential a company formed by Android co-founder, Andy Rubin, has released one phone to date. The Essential Phone is actually one of the earliest phones to use the notch design although it was popularized by iPhone X. This smartphone is not held by many users which makes it unique. Since it runs on Stock Android, it gets its updates swiftly however it had some stability issues in releasing the Android Oreo update. Nevertheless, the company got Android 8.1 Oreo running on Essential Phone.

Now, Essential is rolling out a new Oreo 8.1 build (141) that includes April security patch to Essential Phone. This update comes with the latest Bluetooth 5.0, modem stability fixes, improved performance and bug fixes, proper handling of external game controllers and more.
For those of you who use an Essential Phone, you can check for the update in your settings. There is a section that lets you search for any new updates, which is what you want. The update should show up, though if it doesn’t, don’t panic. Chances are that this is a slow release that comes to a subset of devices first before rolling out to more.
