More Xiaomi stores to come in Malaysia

Xiaomi Malaysia ramps up their physical presence

There are a significant number of Xiaomi physical stores around Malaysia at the present time, and it seems considerably more outlets will come soon. In just one more month, two new Mi Stores will begin operations in Malaysia. There will be one in the 1 Utama shopping mall, and another will be in Imago Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu.

Surprisingly, DirectD – one of the most well known cell phone retailers in Malaysia, will be the ones in charge of the 1 Utama store. Despite this it’s still essentially a Mi Store, so you can expect the normal Xiaomi bits and bobs to be available. This includes things like Xiaomi’s Mi phones, some Mi Home items and a some accessories like the Mi Band and Huami Watch.

Aside from that, the other Mi Store coming soon will be in Imago Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu. This one is run by Switch Digital, which is the same organization that works the Mi Stores in Suria KLCC and Queensbay Mall, Penang. The outlet will officially begin business on the 1st of May. This one will be a normal Mi Store, so you can still expect the normal list of products you’d find anywhere else.

With this, we’ve now got 2 outlets in Penang and our first outlet in Sabah. It’s really nice to see a company that once stubbornly refused physical sales adapt to new markets. As of the time of writing, we still have no idea when the 1 Utama store will open. There’s a high probability of an official opening soon, though that’s still all up in the air.
