Smartisan Nut 3 With Tri-Bezel-Less Design Officially Announced

Smartisan Nut 3

Today, on April 9, the Smartisan Nut 3 was officially announced, as planned. It is focusing on the thousand-yuan market while coming with a full-screen design identical to the Mi MIX 2S.

The phone features a 5.99-inch full-screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. As it sports a tri-bezel-less screen, the top, left and right sides almost have no borders. Therefore, we can see the headset is hidden under the display. The Elevoc Elephant Voice provides AI noise reduction technology.

The handset also uses a rare double-glazed glass + metal frame structure with a body thickness of 7.16mm. Generally, there are three + two variants including the black (with a red line), white (with a gold line), wine, and two Special Edition models such as the dazzling black and dazzling red.

Unlike the previous models, the fingerprint scanner is moved to the front and has an oval shape. It supports up to 10 fingerprints and unlocks the phone in 0.2 seconds only. Of course, this reader supports fingerprint payment options. But the manufacturer has also added a face recognition option that can scan and identify up to 1024 individual facial features.

On the left side of the home button, we can find a front camera with an 8MP resolution and a f/2.2 aperture. It supports ArcSoft technology that comes with a fine-grained real-time beauty algorithm, portrait background blur, and many more.

As for the rear camera, the Smartisan Nut 3 uses a horizontally-arranged dual-camera. Many people may complain of this saying the vertical layout is trendier, but Luo Yonghao explained that Apple’s iPhone X rearranges the rear dual-camera because the front-facing camera area has a large number of components. So if the back camera is arranged horizontally, it will cause interference.

This camera sports 13MP color and 13MP black and white sensors. They work under the control of the ArcSoft professional algorithm to provide better bokeh effect, professional noise reduction, 0.3 seconds PDAF phase focus support, multiple anti-shake options, TDK video electronic image stabilization, and 4K video recording.

As for the hardware, the Smartisan Nut 3 is packed with a Snapdragon 625 octa-core chip clocked at 2.0GHz. It is paired with an Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB, and a 4000mAh battery supporting QC3.0 18W fast charge. The latter allows the phone to provide 2.5+ hours of talk time after charged 5 minutes only.

Please reverify the picture of the Nut 3 you’re using in your article. It is misleading as the final design camera is horizontally placed and not like some of the picture you’re using!

You’re right! Strange, but they were official photos. Anyways, we have removed them. Thanks!

Looks like a poorly made clone of the Mix 2s. But it’s good to see them avoiding the pointless notch craze.

Except they’ve put the camera on the bottom. How convenient is that going to be to take photos, do you flip the phone before you take a selfie?

I never really take selfies but I do a lot of video conferencing and the bottom camera is never an issue. The camera app reminds you to flip it as soon as you switch to the front camera, it takes maybe an extra 3 seconds. I would rather take those 3 seconds than have a notch any day.
