The original Elephone S8 is a bit of a dusty old model released back in August 2017 so it comes as a bit of a surprise that the chinese maker is planning to continue with the lineup with the current upcoming model called Elephone S8 Pro. Today we got our hands on a leaked video of this phone and it revealed quite some surprising things.
There is very little to be known about the Elephone S8 Pro and the company is keeping it all under wraps even now. But in the very short video clip we can clearly see the confirmation of the tri-bezel-less design, rear vertically aligned dual camera, front selfie cam located on the chin of the phone and most importantly the fingeprint scanner integrated directly into the display of the phone ! That is certainly a pleasant surprise.
Gizchina News of the week
As for the hardware for the S8 Pro we can only speculate, most of the rumors are attributing to it the similar 6-inch 2K resolution display as the predecessor (probably AMOLED) and the processor Snapdragon 660 plus 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal memory as the Elephone U Pro model. But we have to wait for the official confirmation, because so far all we have in hand is only the leaked video itself.
Hopefuly this time they will get the pricing right, not like with U/U Pro.
I think gearbest has the U Pro for $389 right now. That is a lot of phone for under $400. I am not sure of anything else that is even close.
6″ Curved Amoled HD+ 18:9, NFC,6GB DDR4 Ram, 128GB storage, MicroSD, Snapdragon SOC, Bluetooth 5, GPS, 13+13mp rear camera, QC, nice battery, face unlock, global bands w/ dual sim, Gorilla Glass 5, rear fingerprint reader, etc.
I have a Elephone S8. I don’t know about the Pro, but I am waiting for Remi Note 5 (Global) to be released so that I can throw the S8 into the storage box! The rear camera is absolutely crappy!!!
I wouldn’t say the sesnsor is crappy at all. 21MP sensor that SONY used in two of it’s own phones. The Sony Exymor line is the most used sensor in all smartphones. Even apple and Samsung use Sony sensors.
The only issue I saw with the camera is the focus speed. I turned off the processing, flash and left zero delay and it works great. You can use the Google camera app I believe up to 7 which has HDR+ and additional features).
