Verizon showcased some specs of the upcoming HTC U12 on their Open Development website. To those of you who don’t know what it is, the Open Development platform is Verizon’s initiative to encourage the development of products and services beyond being a carrier. The U12 is listed under the “Showcase” tab which lists all the devices that are on Verizon’s network. The listing does not reveal all the specs but does let out a little bit of them.
6-inch Frameless Display and a 3500mAh battery sound like a good deal
If the listing is to be believed, the HTC U12 will feature a 6-inch Super WQHD LCD display with Gorilla Glass (unspecified version) on top. The display is specified to be “frameless” which in layman terms means barely-any-bezels. There is no mention of a notch so that’s another topic of speculation.

Other noticeable specs are the massive 3500mAh battery and the IP68 Splash and Dustproof rating. The U12 will feature Android 8 out of the box coupled with the HTC Sense Companion. Another surprising mention is the LTE Cat 12 standard. This is in direct contradiction of previous rumours which specified the processor as being Snapdragon 845, that has support for LTE Cat 18 download and Cat 13 upload. It’s pretty evident the page is under construction, so the mention of Cat 12 is probably a typo.
According to an earlier leak, the HTC U12 will feature a 5.99-inch LCD display with a 2960 x 1440p resolution. Under the hood will lie the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. A 12MP+16MP camera setup is expected to adorn the back while an 8MP+8MP setup will take care of portraits up front. A 3420mAh battery along with Android 8.0 is said to run the U12. As far as the pricing is concerned it may cost anywhere around €799 (~$977).
