The Redmi Note 5 Pro has just been slapped with an extra Rs 1,000 on its price tag in India. This is for the 4GB model that now costs Rs 14,999. Moreover, Xiaomi has also hiked the price of Mi TV 4 (55-inch 4K HDR) by Rs 5,000. This takes the price of the TV to Rs 44,999. The price change will apply from tomorrow on all offline and online portals.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro has been hot and in demand since its very day of launch and still remains so. Hence the company has had to increase the imports of PCBAs to meet demand. Xiaomi is hoping to pump out one million units of Redmi Note 5 Pro every month.

However, PCBAs now come under tax that was increased 10% by the Indian government. This has led to a price hike. Also, Xiaomi says that the Rupee has depreciated by around 5% since the beginning of 2018. This is also a factor in the price hike.
Earlier this month Xiaomi announced local manufacturing of PCBA units and is expected to ramp up its production close to 100% within Q3 2018, so there are changes the price might come down later this year. Xiaomi believes that the substantial increase in the manufacturing capacity will help them achieve the monthly volume of one million Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The current price increase should brighten the prospects of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 theoretically. The handset has similar specs and doesn’t have flash sales. Moreover, the 6GB variant will be available at Rs 14,999.
