While we are drooling over the possible arrival of a Galaxy S9 mini, a new Samsung branded smartphone has been spotted on the website of Chinese telecommunication authority TENAA, and if speculations turn out true, the device might be a version of the Galaxy S8- precisely the Galaxy S8 lite.
A careful look at the images provided by TENAA reveals a device with a Galaxy S8 design with its awkwardly placed fingerprint scanner which the company already fixed with the newly launched Galaxy S9 duo. With a design similar to the Galaxy S8, coupled with some stripped down internals, our guess is that the newly certified phone with the model number SM-G8750 could be the Galaxy S8 lite, and definitely not a Galaxy S8 mini owing to its huge display size.
Gizchina News of the week
The device packs a slightly reduced 5.8-inch Full HD+ (2220×1080 pixels) Infinity display, and with dimensions 148.9×68.1×8.0 (mm) and weight of 155 grams, the alleged Galaxy S8 lite comes fitted with a 3,000mAh. The listing on TENAA reveals that the device will be powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 660 14nm Mobile Platform (Quad 2.2GHz Kryo 260 + Quad 1.8GHz Kryo 260 CPUs) with Adreno 512 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Other specs include a 16MP rear camera with LED Flash, 8MP autofocus front-facing camera with wide-angle lens, and Android 8.0 (Oreo)
If you recall, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ were greatly criticized for their wrong design choice where the company relocated the fingerprint scanning home button to the back of the device beside the camera sensor, so it is almost unreasonable to for Samsung to go with the same design.
We are currently not sure if this is an abandoned device or a fresh device that could be unveiled soon, so we might have to wait for some more convincing information on the alleged Galaxy S8 lite.
