The Xiaomi Mi7 is expected to be unveiled on the 23rd of May if the teaser by Xiaomi is to be believed. Weeks before the speculated unveiling, the cases of the Mi7 have been leaked. The cases put to rest a quite a few rumors and also lead to certain speculations.
No physical fingerprint scanner?
Judging from the case, the back of the Mi7 will have a vertically aligned dual camera setup sitting on the top left corner of the phone, as is the case with the Mi 6X and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The power and volume buttons sit on the right side of the frame. According to an earlier report that showcased the tempered glass protector of the Mi7, it will feature a notch on the top of the display, with no space for a fingerprint scanner. The interesting thing about the case is the lack of a cut out on the back for the fingerprint scanner. There have been rumors that the Mi7 will sport an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, and judging from the case and the tempered glass, it seems like that will be the case.

The Xiaomi Mi7 made an appearance on the official Xiaomi store for a mere 2799 Yuan($439) price tag for the 6GB+64GB variant while the 6GB+128GB variant will sell for 3299 Yuan($518). Along with the under-the-display fingerprint scanner, it is also expected to sport wireless charging. Nothing has been confirmed by Xiaomi yet, so stay tuned for more!

I hope it doesn’t have a notch, but seems it will, can probably work out from photos with a measure and 19.9.
What Xiaomi should do it have a section of screen with seemingly colour / display, and then when you take a selfie, like LCD privacy glass it will rotate the LCD crystals to allow the light “through” the screen onto selfie sensor, thereby having 100% screen no notch. Or at least just for the notch bit at lower resolution.
If you can’t do with colour then you could always put an LCD bar at the bottom of the screen or notch which I know is possible and use it as clock/weather/notification.
Surely anything other than a notch.
There is no headphone jack. This cut out (compare it with the usb-c cut out, it is way too small for a headphone jack!) It is for the microphone! Also don’t cry about the notch, seriously nobody can hear it anymore. Hide it with software, period.
The mic will be in the speaker grill surely. And the hole is way to big for a mic, its the same size as the ir which is about headphone size. We’ll see.
Not crying about a notch, just like most people agree it is ugly and would be better if entire screen were screen 🙂 yet could still do selfie/biometric capture.
The way to achieve this is with a screen you can make transparent. Whether or not its available debatable, Someone patent that now regardless !! Preferably Xiaomi.
