[GizPoll of the Week] Which Messaging Platform Do You Prefer?

From our last week poll, a whopping 82% of voters would rather have a slightly thick phone with a monstrous battery while 15% it has to be slim. Interestingly, 3% do not even consider these features when picking a phone.

Messaging has become an integral part of our everyday lives. Personally, I find it difficult to take calls from my subordinates when I’m working. So I just advise them – send me a message and I will respond ASAP. There are tons of messaging platform out there right from the traditional money-based SMS to internet-based apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and so on.

There are a couple of messaging apps that are not over bloated and seamless even with a very poor performing phone. Some messaging apps got loads of fun features like sticker packs and whisper/shout messages.

Gizchina News of the week

In my region (Nigeria), WhatsApp is overwhelmingly popular so I use it to communicate with my family and old classmates. My colleagues in the UK and US seem to prefer Telegram while those in China and parts of Europe appreciate Skype. However, I think that Skype is a bit stressful, you need a real smartphone to enjoy it. I tried Google Hangouts once but I dumped it after a few weeks. Facebook Messenger comes handy for unexpected communication. If you ask me, I prefer Telegram. It’s so easy to use and your data is quite safe. Remember that Telegram has been banned in Iran and Russia because it refused to give the government users data.

There are so many apps which have not been mentioned here. So, which messaging apps do you prefer? WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype, or something else? Cast your vote in the poll below, and if there is anything you need to add, let us know in the comments.

you are right, uBlock is blocking the poll, dunno why. Since your blog is full of ads and I visit it often I enabled it to get rid of them. Well, don’t worry, I will check results in your new post.

    Thanks! 🙂
