Not too exciting of a week if we only look at smartphone launches, except for the really interesting 360 N7. This Week on GizChina
Xiaomi
The week didn’t start too well for Xiaomi with phone maker LeEco filing the Chinese tech giant for patent infringement and currently seeking for the ban of eight Xiaomi smartphones. In other news, we had a first look at the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 7, whether they are legit photos is really hard to tell though. Finally, if you’re curious about what devices Xiaomi are launching next, check out this leaked document.
Huawei
Huawei was in the news this week as it launched a really budget phone with Android Go over in Ghana – the Huawei Y3 (2018). The smartphone features a 5-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution and is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Huawei finally started selling the much appreciated Huawei P20 in the Aurora gradient version; click here to learn more.
ASUS
Taiwan-based tech firm ASUS seem to have come back pretty heavily in the smartphone game. We indeed just saw the previously unveiled Asus Zenfone 5Z hitting the Benchmark platform Geekbench with quite good results, which is what we’d expect from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB. Also from ASUS, we hear that their Asustek daughter company will launch ROG-branded mobile phones at COMPUTEX 2018, on the wave of the Razor Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark and the likes.
Gizchina News of the week
360
The much awaited 360 N7 is finally here and it did not disappoint. The handset comes with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chip paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. What makes it really appealing though, is the massive 5030mAh battery along with the price tag of around $266.
LG
After launching the flagship LG G7 ThinQ, just past week, the Korean phone maker is now working of the more premium LG V35 ThinQ. The smartphone is expected to be unveiled very soon as it got spotted passing through FCC. LG also had us talking about them for the quite weird device they’re potentially releasing in the next weeks – the LG Q7. A phone that has been seen running a MediaTek Helip P10 over on Geekbench.
