Oppo has today pulled off a Xiaomi with the launch of the first Realme brand smartphone in India. The Realme 1 that is its first offering, leaked last week and is now official. This awesome Redmi Noe 5 Pro competitor has not only the looks but also the raw power that is accompanied by an ultra-aggressive price tag. The Realme 1 starts at Rs 8,990 and is an Amazon exclusive.
The Realme 1 comes with a familiar metal chassis and the rear borrows a glass Diamond Black finish seen before on the Oppo F7. The handset has a mainstream 5.99-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, thankfully without a notch. Oppo now offers the MediaTek Helio P60 with this entry-level offering which is insane considering it comes with the Oppo F7 that costs Rs 23,000. Furthermore, the handset has Android 8.1 Oreo on board painted with Color OS 5.0.
Gizchina News of the week
Camera-wise, the handset seems to lag behind the Note 5 Pro. The rear is home to a single 13MP shooter while the front houses an 8MP shooter. Oppo has made a controversial decision and omitted the fingerprint reader off this one with just face unlock available as the default authentication.
The 4G VoLTE Realme 1 has three slots, 2 for SIM cards and a dedicated SD card slot which is another big plus for budget phones. The handset has a 3,400mAh battery that does not come with quick charge.
The Realme 1 comes in Diamond Black, Solar Red, Moonlight Silver colours. There are three variants:
3GB+32GB costs Rs 8,990 ($132 approx)
4GB+64GB costs Rs 10,990 ($161 approx)
6GB+128GB costs Rs 13,990 ($206 approx)
My jaw didn’t drop.
Lol… I was about to say same thing. OPPO omitted quite a number of techs in the phone to arrive at that price so there’s nothing to drop the jaw for on this one
Well, no double camera setup and no fingerprint reader sure are not that cost saving, still amzing that you can have so much raw power at this price point. And it indeed looks great in my opinion 😉 So title isnt really miss leading, my jaw did dropped haha.
I will drop my jaw when we have dev boards with those socs under $100, and not 2 times more expensive than the phones wearing them.
