Xiaomi Mi 8 Box Leaks – Expected At The End Of May

Whenever we talk about the Xiaomi Mi 8, we say it with some degree of uncertainty because there has been a lot of seldom confirmed rumors surrounding this device. The Xiaomi Mi 7 was well in development and initial reports suggest that it was to launch before the Mi MIX 2S but its release was eventually postponed. Subsequently, news surfaced that Xiaomi is to release a smartphone in commemoration of its 8th anniversary. While some sectors believe that this smartphone is the Mi 7, others are of the opinion that the device is an upgrade of the Mi 7 dubbed Xiaomi Mi 8. Now, for the first time, we have a leak which exposes the box of the purported Xiaomi Mi 8. This latest leak gives some sort of confirmation to the Mi 8 nomenclature.

Xiaomi Mi 7

Note that the Xiaomi Mi 8 nomenclature also appeared on Xiaomi’s official community with the tag “see you in Shenzhen”. From the rumors, this smartphone is set to arrive with some specialty and “innovation”. It will be the first Xiaomi phone to use an on-screen fingerprint scanner and it also comes with a 3D structured light technology which means it can provide the same face recognition feature as the iPhone X. Thus users can use it to authenticate financial transactions. These will be the major talking points when this smartphone eventually arrive at the end of the month (if rumors are true).

Gizchina News of the week

As have been earlier reported, the Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with a notch and this area packs a plethora of sensors which include an infrared lens, front camera, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, flood illuminator, Dot projector and others. As for the under-display fingerprint sensor, reports have it that it is being supplied by Xinsi and Huiding enterprises.

On the configuration, the Mi 8 will be powered by a 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 processor based on 10nm LPP process using Kryo 385 architecture. We also expect a version with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.1 flash memory and an Adreno 630 GPU. This wireless charging compatibility on this smartphone is not clear for now but since we saw it on the Mi MIX 2S and the charging board costs about 99 Yuan ($16), it will be interesting to see this feature on this phone.
