The VIVO Apex is among the few MWC products that impressed a good number of the industry watcher all thanks to its bezel-free design as well as an expanded area of an under-display fingerprint scanner on the screen itself. Now, just a few months after the Apex concept was first showcased, the device seems ready for the mass market.
The company has now issued invites/ teaser for the launch of a new smartphone on June 12 in China where it might officially reveal the VIVO Apex for the general market. The teaser, however, does not reveal the name of the smartphone to be announced, the provided image all points to the VIVO Apex launch.
Announced back at the MWC 2018, the VIVO Apex highlights a borderless display with an in-screen fingerprint scanner on a larger portion of the screen itself. The in-display scanner utilises virtually the entire bottom of the screen, where usually the user’s fingers rest, which allows for more flexibility when unlocking the device as users can place their finger on any part of the lower screen. Whats more, as a mean of further securing the device, the Apex allows you scan two-fingers simultaneously.
Gizchina News of the week
With just 1.8mm of bezel on either side and a bottom chin that is just 4.3mm wide, the VIVO Apex is left with a 5.99-inch OLED display with COF technology, while it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. Other specs for the Vivo Apex are still unknown, but it features a hidden selfie camera on the top edge of the display which only pops out when needed.
We currently have no information on its expected price, and also not sure if the device will make it out of China. We will bring you more details when available.
Only down side it this looks pretty fat. How about an option with no pop up selfie cam. I am not a 12 year old girl that needs to take selfies. Needs to be thinner. Also needs to be waterproof. Fast wireless charging. Huge battery and sell for around $400-500 USD. What am I saying, the real phone will look nothing like this.
A whole lot of modifications should have been made, so weexpect something slightly different from what was showcased back at mwc.
