The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will soon be replaced by the speculated Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Leaked images of the two alleged Google phones’ front panels hint at a full screen design for the Pixel 3 and a notched display for the Pixel 3 XL.
The front panels suggests a complete overhaul from Google’s earlier design while still keeping some of the features from before. For starters, the Google Pixel 3 panel is now a full screen unit with rounded corners, aligning with the 18:9 trend that is currently taking the market by storm. The top of the panel has slots for either some really huge light and ambient sensors, or more likely a dual camera setup on the front. The cut-out on the chin is probably for the stereo speakers that were present on the Pixel 2 and 2XL.

The alleged Google Pixel 3 XL on the other hand will sport a notch up top. It’ll be significantly larger than the Pixel 3 if the leak is to be believed. The notch houses the earpiece, other sensors and what we speculate, a dual camera setup. It retains the stereo speaker on the bottom.
Although the Pixel phones are some of the best in the market Google has been slow in keeping up with the gimmicks that prevail in the market. Starting with the 18:9 display which the Pixel 2 didn’t have but the Pixel 2 XL did. None of the current Pixels have dual camera setups either on the back or the front. This might change with the next generation. Even without the dual cameras, the Pixels have some of the best cameras on-phone that money can buy. So if Google managed to make photos snapped by single cameras look as good as photos by dual cameras, it’ll be quite interesting to see what Google achieves with dual cameras.
