Xiaomi took the wraps off its MIUI 10 skin based on Android Oreo just yesterday. However, that was the debut of the Chinese ROM. Now, it seems the company plans to quickly follow through on the global ROM. Xiaomi India’s video teaser posted just today clearly indicates that MIUI 10 is coming. However, there’s no ETA. Also, Xiaomi India Head, Manu Kumar Jain shared the same news on his Twitter handle confirming the upcoming rollout.

Now, we’re aware that the company launched MIUI 9 last year at the Redmi Y1 event internationally. Putting two and two together, we can hope to see MIUI 10 at the launch of Redmi Y2 aka Redmi S2. Speaking of which, the Redmi S2 is launching soon on June 7th and we’ve also just learnt that it is Amazon exclusive.

Gizchina News of the week

MIUI 10 comes with a host of new features like a new notification panel, better recents menu. Also, Xiaomi debuted its AI assistant Xiao AI with MIUI 10. We’ll have to see how it fares in English. The ROM also has something called “AI Preload” which is just AI learning your usage habits. Presumably, AI is everywhere in the new version as it is in the camera.

Xiaomi is using AI for better portrait shots and Bokeh effects to name just a few. Not to forget gestures, they’re everywhere now. There should be some new features for the global ROM as there are some for the Chines ROM.
Stay tuned as we’ll bring you details as and when the rollout is officially announced.
