Xiaomi

Hands-down the most interesting piece of news for the week – if not for the entire month – is the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 8, along with the more premium Mi 8 Explorer Edition (full specs) and the specc’ed down Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. The smartphones are quite impressive bangs for the bucks, with the Mi 8 SE possibly being a great flagship killer (editorial).

Huawei

Huawei is always in the news in one way or another. This time it’s about the “scary tech” that has been recently announced. We’re talking about the Linux read-only file system EROFS that could possibly make future Huawei smartphones much faster than the competition. In other news, Huawei unveiled the new Watch 2 smartwatch coming with 4G, 1.2-inch OLED screen and IP68 waterproof rating.

VIVO

VIVO V9

Great news coming from VIVO as well. We have indeed been flooded with leaks about the upcoming VIVO NEX (the consumer version of the Apex concept phone). The smartphone is expected to come in two versions with either a SD 721 or SD 845 CPU and under-display fingerprint scanners, according to the latest poster.

Lenovo

It seems as we see a new leak about the upcoming Lenovo 5Z every other day. In the last 7 days it’s been confirmed it’ll launch on June 5th, it’s been said it’ll sport a gradient back panel and that it will not have a top notch. Is this enough to win you over? Well, let’s wait a couple more days before coming to a conclusion.

GizPoll of The Week

From our last week poll, the 57% of you said the Xiaomi Mi 8 shouldn’t have had a notch, meanwhile the 20% is fine with it;  22% don’t even care.
